In East Baton Rouge Parish we live with a wide range of potential hazards: floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, chemical or toxic material spills, civil disruption, public service strikes, major accidents (both fixed site and mobile), hostage and terrorist situations. Also, part of the Parish is in the ten-mile emergency planning zone of a major nuclear plant; the ever increasing danger of a nuclear disaster; and at least two geological fault lines extending throughout the Parish. Pets are not allowed at American Red Cross shelters. Sheltering of pets in East Baton Rouge Parish will be controlled by the Companion Animal Alliance.
