Background


Kelli Terrell Temple was elected Baton Rouge City Court Judge, May 2, 2009. "As a City Court Judge, I am committed to being firm yet fair while treating each person with dignity and respect, allowing them to have their day in court while meting out legal consequences for their actions. I take a personal interest in each person becoming a solid citizen in the city of Baton Rouge and, encourage each person to make the City Court encounter I'm handling, the beginning and end of their experience as a defendant in the judicial system." Since being elected Kelli Terrell Temple has served several terms as Administrative Judge for Baton Rouge City Court. 

Judge Terrell Temple has served on the Judicial Council of the Supreme Court of Louisiana's Trial Court Committee, completed the 2012 Louisiana Judicial Leadership Institute and been an LSBA/Judicial College Leadership Summit participant. She currently serves as a member of the New Judges Committee reporting to the Judicial Council. Judge Terrell Temple's term as a member of the Louisiana Supreme Court's Judicial Council representing the Louisiana City Judges Association expires in 2023. She has presided over Baton Rouge City Sobriety Court judge for 5 ½ years. 

Kelli Terrell Temple is a member of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana City Judges Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Judicial Council -National Bar Association and the American Judges Association. 

Kelli Terrell Temple holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Southern University and a Juris Doctorate degree from LSU Law Center. Kelli Terrell Temple was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2000. Prior to her election in 2009, Judge Terrell Temple served as the Washington, DC office manager of Louisiana's 4th Congressional District, an East Baton Rouge Parish assistant district attorney, a private attorney, assisted with disaster recovery work involving Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and as a Louisiana licensed real estate broker. 

She is married to Collis B. Temple, Jr. and they are the parents of Colleen Noelle, proud bonus mom to three sons and Mimi to eight grandchildren. She is an active member of Mt. Zion First Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Flower Lovers Garden Guild. Judge Terrell Temple is passionate about education and her volunteer work has included St. Vincent de Paul, BRBA's Junior Partners Academy, East Baton Rouge Parish Volunteers in Public Schools, Martinet Society Reading in Schools programs, East Baton Rouge Council on Aging and Girls Scouts Louisiana East. Judge Terrell Temple loves spending time with her family, reading, traveling and gardening.
