BATON ROUGE, LA – April 21, 2022 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced today the launch of a dedicated hotline and web resources for the American Rescue Plan Drainage Initiative in East Baton Rouge Parish. 

Since June 2021, City-Parish has used American Rescue Plan funds to remove 12 million pounds of debris from 41 miles of drain pipes; 20,000 cubic yards of debris has been cleared from Bayou Manchac; repairs to drainage structures include 38 cave-ins/sinkholes, 48 catch basins, 30 pipes and 1 concrete-lined canal.

City-Parish created an online dashboard with information on service requests and projects funded through the City-Parish’s recent allocation of more than $40 million in American Rescue Plan funds to address drainage improvements throughout East Baton Rouge Parish.

“The American Rescue Plan Drainage Initiative Dashboard is part of my ongoing commitment to public transparency and open data,” said Mayor Broome. “This dashboard features detailed information on drainage requests made through 311, the status of each request, total projects sorted by repair type and status, and other visualizations.”
