Baton Rouge, La. — March 15, 2022 — Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome invites the public to Otis’ Dream: The History of Voter Suppression
on Thursday, March 17, at 6 p.m. inside the Baton Rouge Community College Magnolia Theater. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for this FREE event at otisdream.eventbrite.com.
Dr. Otis Moss III, Senior Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois, will lead a conversation about his family’s experience with voter suppression as depicted in the film "Otis’ Dream".
This event also features panelists Raymond A. Jetson, Founder and Chief Executive Catalyst of MetroMorphosis; Maria Harmon, Co-Director of Step Up Louisiana; Alfreda Tillman Bester, MBA, JD, Special Counsel for Human Services at Southern University Law Center; and Ashley Shelton, Founder, President, and CEO of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice. Panelists will discuss their work to increase voter participation. The event will demonstrate the power of citizen voices and votes to improve East Baton Rouge Parish.
