Baton Rouge, La. — December 22, 2021 — Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome was appointed to the Board of Trustees this month for the African American Mayors Association, the governing board for the organization.
“I am honored to join this prestigious national organization. The mission of the AAMA is to empower local leaders for the benefit of their citizens,” said Mayor Broome. “Collaboration with mayors across the country will benefit Baton Rouge as we share ideas and innovative solutions to the challenges we all face.”
Joining Mayor Broome on the board as newly appointed members are Mayor-Elect Eric Adams of New York City, New York, and Mayor Steven Reed of Montgomery, Alabama.
Mayor Broome was also recently appointed as Chair of the Community and Economic Development Policy Committee for the National League of Cities.
