BATON ROUGE, La. — Thursday, June 17, 2021 — The National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans/Baton Rouge is closely monitoring Invest 92L, currently located near the Bay of Campeche. There is a 70% chance of development over the next 2 days and a 90% chance of development over the next 5 days. The NWS is forecasting East Baton Rouge Parish to receive 3-6 inches of rainfall beginning Friday through Monday. Other impacts will be dependent based on tropical system development.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP) urge the residents of East Baton Rouge Parish to get prepared and be weather aware as the weekend approaches. Mayor Broome advises East Baton Rouge Parish citizens to “begin making storm-ready preparations now. We must remain resilient by continuing to be a Red Stick Ready community. Review your emergency plan with your household. Take time to strengthen your home, secure loose outdoor items, and clean any unnecessary debris. Ensure you have enough supplies for each person in your household, for at least three days. Don’t forget an emergency plan and supplies for your pets! Fill your gas cans, check your generators or other hurricane supplies, and check on your family, friends and neighbors.”
