BATON ROUGE, LA — Thursday, June 3, 2021 — Metropolitan Councilmembers Laurie Adams, District 11, and Mayor Pro Tem LaMont Cole, District 7, will co-host a joint Community Meeting on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. at the Main Branch Library, located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of proposed amendments to the Plan of Government of the Parish of East Baton Rouge and City of Baton Rouge. Metropolitan Councilmember Rowdy Gaudet, District 3, will present the information regarding the proposed amendments.
The Plan of Government Amendment Committee was created by the Metropolitan Council in September 2017. The committee, chaired by former Councilmember Donna Collins-Lewis, has proposed several amendments to the Plan of Government. The committee completed its work in June 2019.
At the public meeting, citizens will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the proposed amendments. Any amendments to the Plan of Government would first appear before the Metro Council for consideration. If approved, proposed amendments would then be placed on a parishwide ballot for consideration by the voters of East Baton Rouge Parish.
