BATON ROUGE, La. – March 4, 2021 – The City-Parish will announce a Request for Proposal (RFP) on March 5, 2021, for on-site primary healthcare services at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The City-Parish is seeking to provide comprehensive, quality healthcare services to inmates including medical, dental, mental health, and related support services.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome brought together a diverse task force of stakeholders to help develop the RFP. The group led by the Mayor’s Office included: the Division of Purchasing, EBR Parish Sheriff’s Office, East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services, the Parish Attorney’s Office, as well as medical professionals, community leaders, and prison reform advocates.
“This task force has worked diligently over the past several months and has dedicated countless hours to help us ensure those within our care are receiving the services they need,” said Mayor Broome. “All inmates are valuable individuals who are worthy of dignity and respect. It is incumbent upon us to ensure they have access to the services they need while in custody.”
The RFP will be released March 5 with the goal to award a contract in summer 2021. The City-Parish remains committed to the continued safety and care of the inmates within our custody; and the families, the community, and all partnerships that instill constructive and positive change in our inmates.
