Healthcare Leaders Sign Letter of Support for Mask Executive Order

Baton Rouge, La. – July 3, 2020 — The Healthy BR Board of Directors and members of their Region 2 Medical Advisory Board support Mayor Broome’s decision and dedication to reducing the spread of COVID-19 in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome signed an executive order Wednesday to require all nonprofit and commercial entities to implement a face covering policy.

“Our case numbers over the last month show us that the coronavirus pandemic will continue to affect East Baton Rouge Parish for the foreseeable future,” said Director of the Mayor’s Healthy City Initiative Jared Hymowitz. “The public plays an important role in helping to preserve hospital capacity, and protecting all members of our community. It is critically important to wear a mask or face covering anytime you leave your home, practice appropriate physical distancing, avoid large crowds and practice good hygiene.”

As leaders in the East Baton Rouge Parish medical community, we stand together ready to serve the community and will continue to do so in the safest ways possible. The Healthy BR Board of Directors and members of their Region 2 Medical Advisory Board have issued a letter of support for Mayor Broome’s executive order.
