BATON ROUGE, La. – April 3, 2020 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome extended the closure of all City-Parish buildings Friday, including City Hall and all community centers, through Thursday, April 30, 2020.

City-Parish buildings will remain closed to the public and will be restricted to essential personnel. The extended closure is in alignment with Governor Edwards’ Stay At Home order. 

“Over the next two weeks, we will see the total number of COVID-19 cases get worse, before they get better. Do not allow these numbers to create fear in your heart, and do not allow the very few in our community who defy the social distancing guidelines to interrupt your peace,” said Mayor Broome. “As we go through this weekend and come into the Easter week, a time that is traditionally spent with family, it is critical that we continue intensively adhering to the physical separation and Stay At Home guidelines that have been extended until the end of April.”

Also, Mayor Broome and the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness introduced a text message platform Friday to deliver COVID-19 updates to the community.
