Baton Rouge, LA – April 2, 2020 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announces the MOHSEP Testing Site at Baton Rouge General – Mid City will resume operations on Friday, April, 3.
There were 147 tests administered at the site Wednesday, April 1. There have been 1,430 tests administered since the site opened on Monday, March 16. Only patients who have orders faxed prior to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 will be admitted on Friday.
The orders must be faxed into the site by the patient’s healthcare provider. Anyone with written orders will not be admitted.
Also, no oversized vehicles will be admitted.
As more testing has become available in the community, the community testing site transitioned to a Monday – Wednesday – Friday schedule from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Since opening on March 16, operations at the site have become quicker and more efficient.
The latest schedule allows for greater conservation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will help protect medical staff at the testing site. The site operates on a Monday – Wednesday – Friday schedule as supplies allow.
The community testing site is an initiative led by the Mayor’s Office and healthcare providers, specifically: Baton Rouge Clinic, Baton Rouge General, Ochsner-Baton Rouge, Our Lady of the Lake, and Woman’s Hospital. It is staffed by doctors from those hospitals and clinics. The test kits needed to operate the site are donated by those hospitals and clinics. The testing site has relieved pressure on hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms, which are also administering COVID-19 tests.
Healthcare providers ordering tests have been provided a phone number so they can confirm their patient’s order was received at the testing site and to confirm their patient was tested.
