Mayor Broome Announces COVID-19 Community Testing Site Will Resume Tuesday

Baton Rouge, LA – March 23, 2020 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome would like to thank Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for providing enough tests to allow the MOHSEP Testing Site at Baton Rouge General – Mid City to resume operations on Tuesday, March, 24.

There were 140 tests administered at the site Monday, March 23. Only patients who have orders faxed prior to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23, will be admitted on Tuesday.

The orders must be faxed into the site by the patient’s physician. Anyone with written orders will not be admitted. The site will remain open on a day-by-day basis as supplies allow, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The community testing site is an initiative led by the Mayor’s Office and local physicians. It is staffed by doctors from area hospitals and clinics. The test kits needed to operate the site are donated by those hospitals and clinics. The testing site has relieved pressure on hospitals, clinics and emergency rooms, which are also administering COVID-19 tests.

Physicians ordering tests have been provided a phone number so they can confirm their patient’s order was received at the testing site and to confirm their patient was tested.
