[ARCHIVED] Mayor Broome Activates All Hazards Recovery Task Force

Due to the continuously evolving nature of the COVID-19, Coronavirus, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is activating the East Baton Rouge Parish All Hazards Recovery Task Force. The Task Force, separated into six recovery support function areas, is a trained group of local stakeholders and partners that will use the All-Hazards Disaster Recovery Framework unveiled in 2019 to respond to all hazards, including pandemics such as COVID-19.

Mayor-President Broome will convene local stakeholders and organizations as early as Monday, to address critical areas that will be impacted during this state of emergency, such as:

  • Health and social services
  • Economic impact
  • Community planning
  • Natural and cultural resources

“I will continue leaning forward for our community’s preparedness,” said Mayor-President Broome. “Activating this Task Force builds solutions to any potential impacts resulting from recent announcements like school closures, social services and emergency needs that will require ongoing preparedness for short-term, intermediate and long-term planning.”

The All Hazards Recovery Task Force currently consists of the following on-going partners:

Other Actions taken by Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome

  • March 12, 2020 - postponed permitted events in East Baton Rouge Parish until further notice.
  • March 12, 2020 – signed executive order declaring public health emergency in East Baton Rouge Parish and directing the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to coordinate the City-Parish’s response.
  • March 13, 2020 – signed an Administrative Regulation Leave Policy specific to COVID-19, providing for telework and other arrangements for City-Parish personnel.
  • March 13, 2020 - signed an executive order aligned with the Public Service Commission to ensure no public utilities are disconnected in East Baton Rouge Parish.
  • March 13, 2020 – signed executive order restricting all City-Parish related travel until further notice.
  • Income eligible residents can receive rent and mortgage assistance from the Office of Social Services.
  • Asking landlords to demonstrate compassion during this season as it relates to potential evictions.
