On Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., BrandSafway and Employ BR presented the fourth graduating class of scaffold builders. Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, along with her Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Pamela Ravare-Jones, were in attendance to honor the graduates in a commencement ceremony.
Fifteen graduates earned a certification in scaffolding and received the opportunity for permanent employment with BrandSafway. Graduates will earn salaries ranging from $14 to $17 dollars per hour. These individuals participated in a two-week course at the River Parishes Community College in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Graduate Megan McCarty stated, “The care and patience BrandSafway and Employ BR showed me while going through the process of earning a certification and while dealing with outside distractions encouraged me to push through with the course. I began taking the course back in November of 2019, but I slacked off. When I was focused and ready to start classes again, BrandSafway allowed me to start fresh. At first, I struggled with the process of scaffold building. There were a lot of steps you had to take in order to successfully complete the scaffolding project. Once I got the hang of it, everything was a breeze.”
“I was one of the oldest in the class," said graduate Terrance Cahee. "Being up in age, scaffold building requires physical endurance and skilled training to be able to succeed in this job field. I’ve been around for a while and had the chance to gain skills in different areas of business but what BrandSafway provided for me will help me move into another career path.”
BrandSafway is the leading globalized industry catering to industrial, commercial, and infrastructure end markets.
