The City-Parish has published two new datasets to Open Data BR, Baton Rouge’s award-winning open data portal for local government data. These datasets are part of ongoing efforts to comply with the mandates of the City-Parish’s Open Data Policy and feature two high-value datasets focused on internal City-Parish operations and spending.
The first dataset features information on City-Parish employees that exist in the City-Parish’s payroll system, including those who are active and inactive (or former) employees. The dataset is updated daily and includes data elements such as employee pay information, including special pay that is earned per pay period. The second dataset includes annual salary and other payroll-related information, which is calculated annually after the last payroll is run for the specified year and is accurate as of the time the data was captured and loaded into Open Data BR. Both datasets were originally part of Open Data BR and have been updated to include data from the City-Parish’s new payroll system implemented at the end of 2018.
The publication of these datasets is designed to provide the public with a transparent view into City-Parish operations and spending, supported by other open data platforms and priorities like Open Checkbook BR. Each contains historical information that dates to November 2018, at which point the City-Parish launched a new payroll system. Links to datasets containing data prior to 2018 is available in the summary section of each dataset. For more information, click the links below.
