[ARCHIVED] BrandSafway Partnering with EmployBR to Provide Training and Employment Opportunities

September 12, 2019 – BrandSafway, a leading provider of specialty services to the industrial, commercial, and infrastructure markets, is partnering with EmployBR. The goal is to provide training and employment opportunities to hundreds of scaffold builders from the local area for positions in Louisiana and other regions of the U.S. This partnership will begin in 2019 and extend across the next few years.

Through this partnership, those interested in starting a career in scaffold building can receive introductory training for the trade, by completing the Basic Access Scaffolding Course offered at River Parish Community College (RPCC) in Gonzales, LA. Interested applicants can apply to qualify for free federally funded tuition, transportation, and childcare assistance provided through EmployBR as long as they meet certain federal low-income guidelines. Returning participants are welcome. Upon completion of their training, graduates will be considered for employment opportunities at BrandSafway.

“Careers in the construction industry, including scaffold building, can be very rewarding,” said Leslie Mayo, Director of Human Resources with BrandSafway. “Average entry wages are typically between $14 and $17 per hour for scaffold builders, depending on the project and the region.”

“The partnership between EmployBR and BrandSafway will provide a training path for those in our local community interested in discovering the scaffold building trade,” added Carlos Cano, Director of Craft Labor Talent with BrandSafway. “This is an important step in our effort to train new workers to address anticipated shortages of thousands of skilled workers in Louisiana and other regions of the Gulf Coast.”

Both Vernadine Mabry, DHDS Director, and Nina Hunter, EmployBR Program Administrator, are grateful for the opportunity to partner with BrandSafway. “We look forward to creating this pathway for employment within our community,” said Hunter.

Those who are interested should attend the informational meeting, to take place on Friday, August 13, 2019, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at EmployBR, 4523 Plank Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70805.
