BATON ROUGE, LA — July 29, 2019 — Today, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced the appointment of Mark Armstrong as her office’s Chief Communications Officer.
As Chief
Communications Officer, Armstrong is charged with managing and administering the communications strategy and responsibilities for the Mayor-President’s office and associated City-Parish departments.
“Mark brings many talents and great experience to this critical role, including his knowledge of local media, and I’m excited about him joining our team” said Mayor-President Broome. “Communicating with our citizens through various media channels about the many achievements, partnerships and activities taking place in our City-Parish ensures we exhibit transparency and honor our dedication to preserving the trust of our community.”
A native of Houston, Texas, Armstrong obtained his BS degree in History with a minor in Classics from The University of Southern Mississippi. Most recently, he worked as a multi-media journalist for WBRZ News 2 Louisiana. He also previously worked at WXXV-TV in Gulfport, Mississippi, as a production assistant, assignment editor and reporter.
