Metropolitan Councilwoman Donna Collins-Lewis will host a Community Meeting for residents of East Baton Rouge Parish on Thursday, August 1, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. at BREC Headquarters (Ballroom) located at 6201 Florida Blvd.
The topic for discussion will be proposed amendments to the Plan of Government of the Parish of East Baton Rouge and City of Baton Rouge.
The Plan of Government Amendment Committee was created by the Metropolitan Council in September 2017. The committee, chaired by Councilwoman Donna Collins-Lewis, has been meeting monthly to consider proposed amendments to the Plan of Government. The committee completed its work in June 2019.
In order to receive public comments on the proposed amendments, Councilwoman Lewis will host several community meetings around the parish. There will also be an opportunity for the public to speak on proposed changes to Chapters 1-4 on Wednesday, August 14, at the regularly scheduled Council Meeting at 4 p.m. Remaining chapters will be placed on the agenda for discussion on August 28 and September 11. Any changes to the Plan of Government would first come before the Metro Council for consideration and approval to send to the voters of East Baton Rouge Parish to become effective.
Councilwoman Collins-Lewis and the Plan of Government Amendment committee will present the proposals and be available to answer questions at this meeting.
