City-Parish activates storm debris collection contract

Republic Services will resume normal pickup of garbage/recycling/trash services tomorrow, Monday July 15, 2019.  They will be driving their normal pickup day routes only. They will not be picking up Tropical Storm Barry storm debris.

The City of Baton Rouge has activated DRC Emergency Services and Thompson Engineering to begin the process of storm debris collection. DES Environmental Specialists, along with Thompson and DRC, will begin the debris survey on Monday July 15, 2019, weather dependent. The survey is expected to take 2 - 3 days, then we will begin debris removal.

The City’s contract for these debris pickup services covers the City of Baton Rouge and the unincorporated areas of the Parish.

Please keep any storm debris separate from your normal household garbage/recycling/trash. And please get your storm debris to the street as soon as it is safe for you.

Also as a reminder that any contractor you hire to clear any debris is responsible for the disposal of that debris. We will stop at any home that a contractor is working at to remind them of their disposal responsibilities under City-Parish Ordinances.
