The Metropolitan Council is seeking applicants for the position of Parish Attorney. This employee serves as the chief legal advisor to all departments in the City-Parish government, including the Metro Council and the Mayor-President.
The Parish Attorney supervises a staff of professional and clerical assistants, who handle the bulk of the work assigned to the office; oversees cases to be presented in higher courts; and renders legal opinions, subject to review by the courts. Required experience includes 10 years or more practicing law, with the preceding five years in the state of Louisiana, and at least one year supervising other attorneys. Candidates must be licensed to practice in all state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, and the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeal.
