BATON ROUGE, LA — January 31, 2019 — Today, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced the logistics of her 15 Minutes with the Mayor initiative. In her 2019 State of the City address, Mayor Broome pledged to provide East Baton Rouge Parish citizens with an opportunity to meet with her on a topic of their choice or share strategic solutions and recommendations that could help to build a city of peace, prosperity, and progress.
In order to schedule a meeting, citizens must live within East Baton Rouge Parish and submit a request form 2-4 weeks in advance. Additionally, meetings are limited to one per individual or organization, and any audio or photos requests are at the discretion of the mayor.
“I am looking forward to opening the doors of my office to the entire community to listen and collaborate together for the greater good of the City-Parish,” said Mayor Broome. “I know many residents in our community have innovative, powerful ideas, and I am eager to give them a platform to share them.”
The main focus of each meeting is based on, but not limited to, the following areas: Public safety, health and wellness, economic development, workforce development, public works, education or youth services, women and children, and innovative ideas or solution recommendations.
Meetings will be scheduled on the first and third Wednesday of each month for 15 minutes. The first series of meetings will occur on Wednesday, February 6.
