[ARCHIVED] Hear from Experts at GIS Day Wednesday at Main Library

International GIS Day will be held on Wednesday, November 14,  at the Main Library at Goodwood Boulevard. Join us for a community-based speaker event promoting Geographic Information Systems. The free event starts at 4 p.m. and will wrap up around 6 p.m.


GIS Day is an annual educational event enabling GIS professionals to open their doors to schools, businesses and the general public to showcase real-world applications of Geographic Information Systems technology. Representatives from various groups and organizations will be at the library discussing GIS-related topics.

 

The 2018 GIS Day Baton Rouge program features speakers from:


  • Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO)
  • United States Forest Service (USFS) Strike Team
  • Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF)
  • Global Geospatial Solutions (GGS)
  • City-Parish Department of Information Services
  • Environmental Sciences Research Institute (ESRI)
  • Geographic Information Services, Inc. (GISinc)


International GIS Day events in Baton Rouge are organized and provided to residents at no charge by the City of Baton Rouge – Parish of East Baton Rouge, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, the Louisiana Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (LARSGIS) Institute, and Baton Rouge Green.
