On October 24, 2018, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome was authorized to execute a Third Amended and Restated Cooperative Endeavor and Intergovernmental Agreement (CEA) between the City-Parish and the East Baton Rouge Redevelopment Authority (Authority). The CEA provides that the City-Parish partner with the Authority in targeting areas for redevelopment by adopting resolutions from time to time providing for such “Targeted Areas” as the Metropolitan Council deems appropriate, and shall task the Authority with preparing redevelopment plans for the Targeted Areas. Targeted Areas shall be deemed priorities for reinvestment and redevelopment to eliminate blight and encourage revitalization efforts.
The CEA further provides that after Targeted Areas are designated by the Metropolitan Council, the Authority can, by written request and without further council approval, ask that any properties within the areas be set aside for transfer to the Authority for the purpose of carrying out the redevelopment plans. These maps represent the Targeted Areas.
