The City-Parish’s Geographic Information Systems division has created an interactive map of the parish with Census population data available for every decade from 1990 dating back to 1890.
The Historic Census page complements the Census 2000 and Census 2010 pages, which contain comprehensive demographic information for specific areas called tracts. Prior to the 1960 Census, the parish was subdivided into wards; both wards' and tracts' boundaries have been regularly redrawn. Users can toggle between years via a dropdown menu in the top right corner of the map, then click on a ward or tract to view its population for that year.
With the 2020 Census approaching, the Historic Census viewer is another useful tool for people researching the population history of East Baton Rouge Parish.
