Per WHLC Architecture regarding the River Center Branch Library:
After an analysis of the library building, two compromised steel connections were found by the structural engineer. Repair measures are being taken this afternoon.
We anticipate the repair measures, involving welding at the site of the compromised connections, will ensure that the contractor will be able to go back to work on the project tomorrow once they are complete and approval is received from the structural engineer. It will also ensure that the east-bound lanes of North Blvd. can be reopened.
A full structural report and analysis is expected at the end of next week. This report will contain further details on the issue, and any additional measures to be taken.
