EAST BATON ROUGE CONTINUES FIVE-YEAR UPDATE OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Baton Rouge, La. — August 7, 2023 — Baton Rouge’s City-Parish Planning Commission is continuing the 5-Year Update to FUTUREBR, the Comprehensive Master Plan for our city-parish. Building upon the foundations established by the Horizon Plan efforts of decades past, FUTUREBR is the general plan for land use and policies intended to guide and address both current and future needs. All community members are encouraged to participate in the second round of public comments for the plan update process.

The first round of public workshops has been completed, and the Planning Commission Staff is updating FUTUREBR to include public input received. Three additional meetings will be held across the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish to present changes to the FUTUREBR Comprehensive Plan, addressing the first round of public comments.

The FUTUREBR plan encapsulates a vision for the future of our community. As technology advances, populations shift, transportation needs change, and weather extremes become more frequent, FUTUREBR must be examined and revised to maintain its relevancy. This update cycle is the public’s opportunity to consider our current situation, become informed of national and global trends, and contribute to the conversation. Public participation is critical in creating, prioritizing, and refining the revisions and updates to the comprehensive plan. Ideas are vital to ensure that the goals, objectives, action items, and recommendations contained in FUTUREBR continue to reflect our community’s shared vision for our future.
