BATON ROUGE, LA — June 22, 2018 — Join Mayor Broome in partnership with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful, Visit Baton Rouge, and alongside metro council members, local business leaders, and community partners to pick up litter around various sites around the parish on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Clean Sweep EBR Day, a parish-wide cleanup initiative, was orginally scheduled for April 14 but was canceled due to the threat of thunderstorms.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in targeted areas within the 12 Baton Rouge Metro Council districts.
“A clean city is not only beneficial to our residents, but it boosts tourism and economic development, and even improves public safety,” said Mayor Broome. “With buy-in from the entire community, we can eliminate the culture of litter in Baton Rouge.”
Litter costs Louisiana taxpayers an estimated $40 million yearly for disposal, enforcement of litter laws, and anti-litter education programs, according to Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
Clean Sweep EBR is in partnership with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful, the Great American Cleanup, Visit Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Downtown Business Association, Baton Rouge Lodging Association, East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Geaux BIG Baton Rouge, and the Downtown Development District.
Volunteers may sign up individually or as a team. Cleaning supplies and drinking water will be provided to all volunteers.
To register, please visit Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful or call (225) 381-0860.
