BATON ROUGE, La. – March 14, 2023 – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced the Office of Community Development's draft action plan for the HOME ARP funding granted to City-Parish by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The proposed $5 million plan aims to provide much-needed housing for those who are the most vulnerable in our communities — the homeless, very low income, domestic violence survivors, and veterans.
The draft action plan can be at http://www.brla.gov/DocumentCenter/View/16752/HOME-ARP_Allocation_Plan-Public-Hearing-DRAFT
The action plan was drafted after significant engagement with stakeholders and residents to co-develop housing solutions that meet the needs of all residents in East Baton Rouge Parish. Residents and partners can submit public comment on the plan through March 28 at ocd@brla.gov.
There will also be two opportunities to learn more about the action plan, including:
- A virtual community meeting at noon Thursday, March 16. Register at http://www.brla.gov/HomeARPregistration
- A public meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the River Center Branch Library downtown.
Other initiatives recently announced through the Mayor’s Office of Community Development include a $1 million dollar investment in the YWCA's new housing development for domestic violence survivors and a $900,000 investment in URECs Foster Oaks project, which was approved by the Metropolitan Council this month.
