Join Councilwoman Tara Wicker and members of the Metro-Council Blight Committee for the next committee meeting, which will be held on Friday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 801, City Hall, located at 222 St. Louis Street.
Topics to be discussed will include: City-Parish trash collection contract; policy reform for illegal dumping on vacant lots; code enforcement; and lien/foreclosure legislation. There will also be a special announcement regarding a new initiative to reuse old tires for a good and useful purpose.
"I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly frustrating this has become as we dig further into the issue of blight!!" said Councilwoman Wicker. “It is truly amazing to me how connecting this issue is with the crime and decay that we have been experiencing throughout our city. It is truly shameful and as a productive and progressive city we cannot accept the status quo as the norm. I am mad about it and am looking forward to this committee being part of the solution and not the excuse.”
