The Baton Rouge Fire Department Communications Division is located in the communications center at the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
Twenty-two (22) fire department personnel work in fire communications. Twenty of the personnel comprise four rotating shifts keeping the center operating on a 24-hour basis. The Chief and Assistant Chief Fire Communication Officers supervise the division and work a fixed schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Division is responsible for dispatching, tracking and notification of emergency calls to city fire units. This division also assists in dispatch for eight parish departments.
