Administration
This division maintains records of all personnel, training, maintenance of vehicles and facilities, budgets and financial data which it organizes, analyzes, and prioritizes in order that recommendations may be directed to the Fire Chief for his use in running the day-to-day operations of the department.

Communications
The Communications Division is responsible for dispatching, tracking and notification of emergency calls to city fire units. This division also assists in dispatch for eight parish departments.

Fire Investigation
This division is responsible for the investigation of all fires that have a suspicious or undetermined cause and origin and/or where a fire death has occurred. The Fire Investigations Division also works with all other law enforcement agencies dealing with the crime of arson

Fire Prevention Bureau & Fire Prevention Committee
It is the duty of the Fire Prevention Division to "prevent” incidents that require the response of our fire suppression personnel. It is the job and responsibility of this division to enforce fire codes and regulations, inspect and abate existing and potential fire hazards, and to recommend fire prevention standards.

Fire Safety
The Fire Safety Division is responsible for gathering and investigating all infectious/contagious disease exposures to the personnel within the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Fire Suppression
The Fire Suppression Division is the actual “firefighting” aspect of the Fire Department. This division is the most “visible” part of the fire department as the members of this division are in the public’s eye as they respond to fires, automobile accidents, first aid calls, etc.

Hazardous Materials
The Hazardous Materials Division is responsible for coordinating the response resources of the city and parish emergency services in the event of an incident involving hazardous materials.

Rescue
The Rescue Division responds to all motor vehicle accidents in the city where there is a possibility there will be Extrication needed on the scene.

Special Services
The Special Services Division is responsible for coordinating the activities and record keeping of the Mechanic Shop, the Supply Room, the Building Maintenance Shop, and the Fire Equipment Technician. This division keeps the Fire Department “running” physically.

Training
The Training Division of the Baton Rouge Fire Department responsibilities are making sure employees of the BRFD are constantly updated on response procedures and kept abreast of the latest technologies in the fire service.
