Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Community Center
The Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. (Eden Park) Community Center is a multi-purpose social service agency that first opened in 1978. Its mission is to empower and strengthen the community by providing comprehensive development through education, employment training, advocacy and other support services.
Serving Baton Rouge
The Center is still on the move, providing opportunities for personal, academic, professional and spiritual growth for residents of the City of Baton Rouge. We are a thriving organization that cares and treats our community with dignity and respect. The center presently offers a variety of services through various agencies.
We serve the public in multifaceted ways such as after-school tutorials, summer day camps, safety/self-defense classes, informational sessions, senior programs, social service programs and medical services.
We provide opportunities for personal, academic, professional and spiritual growth through an array of services. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is proud to serve its community and to be there whenever we can be of service. The Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Community Center is available for events and functions. The facility is the perfect place to hold wedding receptions, reunions, church functions, business meeting, trade shows, etc. There are two rooms available. The main room has a capacity of 120 maximum. The smaller room has a capacity of 90. Both rooms provide access to a full kitchen. Tables and chairs are provided at no extra cost. Event rental prices are:
- Large Banquet Hall, $275, 120 max capacity
- Small Banquet Hall, $175, 90 max capacity

Care South WIC
Care South has a WIC office located inside of the Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Center. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon; the phone number is 225-931-6806.
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). WIC provides healthy foods, breastfeeding support, nutrition education and referrals to other social services to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum. Infants and children up to their fifth birthday may also receive benefits. Call us at 225-388-5861 to set up an appointment.
THE CEO MIND Foundation, a community organization whose focus is to help strengthen the underserved, under-privileged urban community, focuses on leadership development, entrepreneurship skills, and technology by offering empowerment, engagement and the building of tangible pathways. One of our initiatives is The Youth Empowerment Zone (located inside the MLK Community Center), a safe space designed to provide our kids with an enriching environment to engage, learn and be positively motivated to take control of their lives and future. Some of the things available at the Youth Empowerment Zone include:

The purpose of these services and activities is to increase the capabilities of individuals and families to become self-sufficient; to revitalize the community; and to empower children, youth, and their families.
