Maintenance
The Department of Maintenance oversees drainage and landscaping on public land in East Baton Rouge Parish. Their duties include ditch digging, canal inspection and debris removal, grass mowing, litter cleanup, and pothole patching. They are also responsible for applying sand during icy conditions, and removing hazardous and non-hazardous waste spills.
Landscape Maintenance
The Landscape Maintenance division is responsible for beautifying city-owned landscapes and oversight of grass maintenance functions involving litter crew pick-up, weed-eating, and spraying crews combining efforts to give boulevards and right-of-ways a manicured appearance. This division oversees contracts for landscape maintenance for boulevards, public building sites and FEMA lots.
Street Maintenance
The Street Maintenance division is responsible for maintaining roadways by repairing potholes, street blowouts, and curbs. They are responsible for applying sand during icy conditions, and removing hazardous and non-hazardous waste spills.
Drainage Maintenance
The Drainage Maintenance division is responsible for roadside ditch digging and off-road canal excavation, canal debris removal, inspections of roadside ditches and canals, vector truck operations, storm-drain and catch-basin concrete repair work, erosion remediation, and surveying land for property lines.
