Inventory Division

Mission

The Inventory Section of the Purchasing Division maintains the City-Parish fixed and movable assets inventory control, and handles public auctions for surplus City-Parish material, vehicles, and equipment.

Performance Measures

Inventory value at year end 2014 was approximately $175 million, compared with $170 million for 2013. The 2014 auctions generated approximately $1 million in gross sales versus approximately $857 thousand in 2013 in gross sales. A portion of the proceeds from the auctions is retained to operate and maintain auction facilities at the East Lot.

Goals & Objectives

The goals and objectives of the Inventory Division include:

  • To improve customer satisfaction during auctions
  • To continue improving the surplus storage facility
  • To continue training of employees to ensure efficient operation
  • To work towards improving roadway and parking at auction facility
  • To continue maximizing City-Parish returns on surplus-property auctions
  • To improve upon property tagging procedures by gathering information necessary to implement Bar Coding procedures
  • To improve on communications between departments/agencies and our Inventory Staff to permit viewing of surplus property
