The Inventory Section of the Purchasing Division maintains the City-Parish fixed and movable assets inventory control, and handles public auctions for surplus City-Parish material, vehicles, and equipment.
Inventory value at year end 2014 was approximately $175 million, compared with $170 million for 2013. The 2014 auctions generated approximately $1 million in gross sales versus approximately $857 thousand in 2013 in gross sales. A portion of the proceeds from the auctions is retained to operate and maintain auction facilities at the East Lot.

The goals and objectives of the Inventory Division include:
To improve customer satisfaction during auctions
To continue improving the surplus storage facility
To continue training of employees to ensure efficient operation
To work towards improving roadway and parking at auction facility
To continue maximizing City-Parish returns on surplus-property auctions
To improve upon property tagging procedures by gathering information necessary to implement Bar Coding procedures
To improve on communications between departments/agencies and our Inventory Staff to permit viewing of surplus property
