Alternatives to Detention Services

Electronic Monitoring

Electronic Monitoring is an alternative to detention program that allows the court the option of releasing youth from secure detention with enhanced supervision and as a graduated response to probation violations. The youth’s compliance in the program is monitored electronically through the use of an ankle bracelet. The youth is tracked in the community through GPS software that produces a daily report that identifies violations of location restrictions ordered by the court.

Evening Report Center

The Evening Reporting Center (ERC) is a short-term alternative to detention programs for youth who would otherwise be detained in the Juvenile Detention Center. The ERC provides youth with a highly structured and supervised environment where they can develop competencies for better decision-making regarding probation compliance and reduce the likelihood of re-offending. Participants receive homework assistance, engage in educational activities, physical fitness activities, recreational programming and a Life Skills program. Transportation and meals are provided.
