The North Landfill is free for East Baton Rouge Parish residents to bring their garbage and trash with proof of residence, such as a driver’s license or water bill. This free service excludes demolition debris, trees or large parts of trees, and contractor debris.
Garbage and trash may be dropped off at the North Landfill, located at 16001 Samuels Road, between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The landfill is closed on Sunday.
Trash is defined as non-putrescible material including yard waste, wood waste, bulky recyclables and bulky waste. Bulky waste is defined as used furniture and other large household waste items generated at the residential level which do not fit into standard collection containers and excludes agricultural solid waste, construction and demolition debris, dead animals, stable matter or vegetable waste with weights or volumes greater than those allowed for bins, bags or containers. And bulky recyclables are automobile tires, white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, water tanks, washing machines, artificial Christmas trees, lawnmowers, and trimmers.
