Report Recommendation 2.9

Pillar 2: Policy and Oversight

2.9 Report Recommendation: Law enforcement agencies and municipalities should refrain from practices requiring officers to issue a predetermined number of tickets, citations, arrests, or summonses, or to initiate investigative contacts with citizens for reasons not directly related to improving public safety, such as generating revenue.

BRPD Alignment

While BRPD Commanders and Supervisors assign officers to focus their time and efforts on enforcing laws that make the greatest impact on public safety, there is currently no written policy specifically prohibiting the points outlined in this Recommendation.
