District 5 Metropolitan Council member application

Due to the election of Councilwoman Erika Green to the Family Court for East Baton Rouge Parish, the City-Parish is accepting applications to fill the District 5 Metropolitan Council seat until the next available election.

The Plan of Government of the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge and the Code of Ordinances require that the seat be filled by a vote of the remaining members of the Metropolitan Council within 20 days of Ms. Green's vacancy of office. The Metropolitan Council has not scheduled the meeting to vote on the appointment to the District 5 seat, however, Ms. Green's resignation is effective on January 1, 2022.  Because there is more than on year remaining in the term of office, the person appointed by the remaining members of the Metropolitan Council will serve until the next available election.
