Operations

The Operations Division consists of (5) five subdivisions: Field Operations, Communications, Public Information Events, Operations Support / Special Teams, and CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement). Each subdivision has a Chief or Supervisor that reports to the Chief of Operations.

Field Operations

Nine ALS ground ambulances operating 24 hours a day. 5 Power shift units during peak times. Units are staffed with a minimum of a Paramedic and an Emergency Medical Technician. Crews work rotating twelve-hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. alternating between day and night shifts every other month. Power shifts are also 12-hour shifts; however, the times are staggered.

Communications

The Communications District administers various aspects of the 911 center including financial matters, maintains Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and is responsible for the City Parish Radio Shop.

Public Information / Events

This division is responsible for scheduling medical coverage at public events, safety education, recruiting events, and media relations.

Ops Support / Special Teams

EMS provides certain specialized services to the community and ancillary agencies. SRT teams, Bicycle teams, Haz-Mat, CISM, Honor Guard and Precepting. It is also responsible for fleet maintenance, supplying the units and decontaminating equipment.

CQI

The Continuous Quality Improvement team is tasked with reviewing practices in order to recognize trends and optimize patient care standards.
