Honoring Legends and Inspiring the Future
Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome will award and highlight women in East Baton Rouge Parish who have made outstanding achievement in their respective fields and who have demonstrated and sustained excellence, accomplishments, and creativity through community and/or work-related involvement associated with the three award categories: Women of Peace, Women of Prosperity and Women of Progress.
Winners will be honored at the “Honoring Legends and Inspiring Future” Awards Luncheon on April 7, 2020, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Please nominate a woman who you feel is making a difference in our communities and deserves to be spotlighted for her accomplishments and contributions.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Awards will be presented to women who represent diverse backgrounds, ages, occupations, and passions.
The nominee must:
- Live and work (individuals) or operate (businesses and organizations) within East Baton Rouge Parish.
- Satisfy each of the nomination criteria for their award category.
- Be willing to be interviewed by media representatives and photographed for the program and media releases/promotion.
- Submit a professional photo of the nominee and/or organization logo/company for the Award Luncheon.
- Consent to the nomination and the publication of her name, photo and information.
- Attend the “Honoring Legends and Inspiring Future” Awards photo shoot.
- Be available to attend the “Honoring Legends and Inspiring Future” Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2020, to accept the award.
The nominee must demonstrate:
- Excellence, accomplishment, and creativity above and beyond the expectations of her position
- The ability to inspire other women to achieve their own goals
- Qualities of leadership, integrity, dedication, and teamwork
- Commitment to improving the quality of life in EBR Parish
HOW TO NOMINATE
All nominations must be completed online within the nomination form. Online applications must be submitted by a final deadline of Friday, March 27, 2020 by 5 p.m.
No extensions will be granted beyond this time.
NOMINATE AN OUTSTANDING WOMAN FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
Woman of Prosperity award
A Woman of Prosperity supports others. This Award spotlights the region’s most influential women in business and economic empowerment. We are seeking women from every industry and profession (corporate and nonprofit), women who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for the rest of us and are leaving a mark on Baton Rouge business. A Woman of Prosperity has achieved outstanding success in her field by:
- Being a role model in best workplace practices by implementing an innovative initiative exclusively for employees.
- Demonstrating leadership at any level within her organization.
- Contributing to the professional lives of EBR women.
- Being progressive and responsive to employee needs, including work-life balance.
- Supporting the advancement and success of women.
- Fostering professional development and mentorship (Cite examples of sponsorship vs. mentoring).
- Supporting employee volunteerism and community initiatives.
woman of peace award
A Woman of Peace inspires others. This award spotlights faith- and service-based work that inspires young girls and women. A Woman of Peace has achieved outstanding success in her field by:
- Demonstrating accomplishments that help her stand out among her peers within faith-based or non-profit organizations.
- Being a leader and role model to women’s initiatives within her organization.
- Participating actively as a leader or volunteer within the EBR community.
- Being recognized by her community for her sustained commitment and contribution within her category.
- Promoting peace within the EBR area through demonstrated work.
Woman of progress award
A Woman of Progress inspires others in the areas of health, education or social justice. A Woman of Progress has achieved outstanding success in her field by:
- Showing vision and initiative to break new ground or old barriers in the areas of health, education, or social justice.
- Promoting healthy lifestyles through her work within the EBR community.
- Leading initiatives for the good of students, college or district.
- Demonstrating leadership at any level within her organization.
- Fostering professional development and mentorship. (Cite examples of mentoring.)
- Supporting the development of ‘out of the box’ solutions to health, education, or social justice issues.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Nominations Committee reviews all submissions for completeness, eligibility and ensures that each nomination fulfills ALL of the nomination criteria. Please note not every nomination submission may be accepted. All accepted nominations will be forwarded to an independent Judging Panel.
The Nominations Committee and Judging Panel reserve the right to withhold an award in any category.
