Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome hosts Operation Clean Up community clean-ups. The Saturday beautification events are community led; they are followed by a week of City-Parish DPW crews focusing on clearing trash, cutting grass, eliminating blight, and improving corridors throughout the parish.

Operation Fresh Start is part of the Mayor-President’s comprehensive strategy to combat blight in East Baton Rouge Parish. The effort was kicked off in 2018, and is held quarterly at various locations throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. Operation Fresh Start has yielded the following results for the community:

  • Disposal of about 1,065 tons of trash and debris from our community
  • Removal of 9,376 illegally dumped tires
  • Removal of nearly 3,800 bags of litter
  • Over 275 potholes filled
  • Removal of over 34,000 pounds of broken concrete
  • Removal of over 3,100 illegally placed signs
