Message from: Chief Murphy J. Paul

Our community is blessed with caring, hard-working, and generous individuals and families. At the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), we spend every day working to honor the faith and trust this community has placed in us.

While BRPD serves as the primary enforcer of public safety laws in our city, we know every resident plays a role in keeping our city safe and that problems in our community are best solved when we work together. Thus, trust and community partnerships are at the heart of our ideology and strategies.

With the aim of strengthening transparency, trust, service, and respect, BRPD is adopting 21st Century policing policies to improve our operations and relationships. The Department's latest technological advancements, including the Real-Time Crime Center, Body Cameras, PSCOP, a new integrated Records Management System, and Computer Automated Dispatch System, leverage community resources and give our officers the tools they need to do their jobs more safely, effectively, and efficiently.
