Notice of New Tax Rate Effective April 1, 2019

Resolution 54183 has amended Sales and Use Tax Ordinance 10127, adopted December 14, 1994, so as to levy a one-half of one percent (1/2%) sales and use tax for 30 years beginning April 1, 2019, relative to the repair, improvement and construction of public roads and streets in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Each column of the sales and use tax report for East Baton Rouge Parish will increase 0.5%. The food and drug exemption does apply to this tax; therefore, the total food and drug exemption is increasing by 0.5% as well.

Please be aware that you are responsible for collecting the additional tax effective April 1, 2019 and remitting it on the sales and use tax report.

The new sales and use tax reporting form for tax periods beginning April 2019 can be found below. The rates will also be updated on Parish E-file and Sales Tax Online for those taxpayers that use online filing.

If you have any questions, please contact the Taxpayer Assistance Section of the Finance Department, Revenue Division, at (225) 389-3084.
