Recognized as a national best practice, the "Red Stick Ready" campaign encourages community resilience, personal responsibility, educational training and best practices. Educating and preparing the public remains one of the main focuses of the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP). Through presentations, both in and out of the office, MOHSEP is able to educate citizens and City-Parish agencies on preparing for emergencies at all times. In order to get prepared for disasters, the MOHSEP offers informational handouts to the public through request.
