Red Stick Ready Day

“Baton Rouge” is French for “Red Stick” and being “Red Stick Ready” means having the necessary plans and items in place in order to be prepared for all hazards. Red Stick Ready Day provides a unique opportunity for citizens to interact with emergency response personnel. By partnering with multiple agencies throughout the Parish, this event serves as an opportunity to share important public safety information to the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish. Each year, Red Stick Ready Day also offers representatives of these agencies an opportunity to become familiar and better inform the citizens we serve during emergency response efforts. At Red Stick Ready Day, citizens learn how to create an emergency communication plan, what items are needed to build a disaster supply kit, and how to be better prepared for any and all disasters in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Hurricane Awareness Day

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP), and the National Weather Service (NWS) team up with East Baton Rouge Parish first responders to prepare the community for the upcoming Hurricane Season. During Hurricane Awareness Day, citizens are given the opportunity to interact with the first responders that are here to keep them safe during emergencies.
