Mitigation

The Mitigation Phase reduces and prevents the loss of life and property by lessening the impact of future disasters and / or emergencies in our community. Through a regular planning cycle, MOHSEP reviews and updates a detailed picture of the risks faced in East Baton Rouge Parish, both man made and naturally occurring. Hazard mitigation planning is intended to understand the risks and vulnerabilities associated with natural and manmade disasters. The planning process also identifies actions and long-term strategies that can reduce risks and potential impacts.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Mitigation Framework establishes a common platform and forum for coordinating and addressing how the Nation manages risk through mitigation capabilities and how the Nation will develop, employ, and coordinate mitigation core capabilities.
